Yeah you can always recover your account.You just wont have your saved games or anything but you will have your achievements and previous downloads.

Choose 'Recover Gamertag' and simply input the needed information! As long as your account was connect to Xbox LVIE at some point in time, you'll be able to get it back. If you only played offline, I'm pretty sure it's lost.

agreed, of course you can recover an XBL profile, people do it all the time. and once you recover it, it might even re-attach itself to your gamesaves (most likely will anyway)
