I have fixed close to 15 360s and have to say that its really up to you, if you have a friend that does it ask them to do it, if you want to learn its a peice of cake just gotta read up, if you want to sell check prices on ebay and see how much you can get out of it, i usually buy broken 360s off of ebay fix them then sell them to people who want a deal to where i still make some money. if i was you i would diagnose it and look at your possibilites to fixing if not sell on ebay. What to do with RROD 360 out of warranty ...

Don't mean to ask you annoying questions, but I'm confused about this one. It had RROD twice before (well, once I guess, because the first replacement came with a letter saying they replaced it for faster service), so I've definitely seen what happens with that issue. It is different this time however. It shows the three red lights, but it is like the system just refuses to even try to start up. NOTHING happens inside the console other than the lights turning on. Thank God I ejected the game instantly when the lights appeared, because now the disc tray will not even eject.

not annoying questions if you knew it you wouldnt be asking am i right haha. well i guess lets start figuring it out. does it go straight to red lights with out doing the green circle? make sure you unplug everything plug it back in. keep your hard drive disconnected to make sure no files get corrupted, make sure your system is completely off before removing the hard drive.
Yes sir. Did everything you suggested and still just lights. No green ones before hand. Strange thing is is that the disc tray only failed once I got the lights. Still no power going through the system (atleast I think). The power brick (not sure what it is called) is functioning correctly (green light). Thanks for your help btw!
ok that was going to be my next question was the green light on the brick way to stay ahead of the game haha. no on to codes, what im going to tell you to do is give me the error code that the 360 is having an issue with. first hold down the wireless button then hit the eject button four times. now every time you hit the ejection button you need to write down the number of red lights that come with each sequence. such as 4 3 2 1. then give me the code so i can help you more
My brother fixes them haha.
Also, you can wrap towels around it, I actually did that to mine this morning with the E74 error, overheated it, and it was working fine until my bro can fix it completely.
I mean worst case scenarios don't matter anyways :P since your #1 option is to throw it away
Thanks for your help but i've packed it up for the journey home tomorrow. When I get back in town i'll be able to give you those quotes. Thanks again!
Haha the towel thing won't work because the dumb thing has like zero power flowing through it. Suckssss. Thanks though!
just let me know
Microsft will still replace your console if it's warranty expired, but there's a slight chance they'll charge you $100 for the replacement. Cheaper than a $199 core system though.I had an Elite that RR and the warranty expired. I sent it to Microsoft and they replaced it for free. However, it took 3 months. THREE MONTHS. At least I didn't have to pay for it.
Ha, noooo way am I waiting 3 months. I'm just going to pick up a core when I get back to school. I've heard the new ones are more reliable, which is of course a plus.
